Most players don't improve because they don't know what to work on
They play games every week hoping they'll naturally get better. Instead, they develop bad habits, reinforce mistakes, and eventually plateau.
If you've ever thought..."I don't know what I should practice."
or
"I know what my weaknesses are, but I don't know how to fix them."
You're not alone.
Imagine showing up every week with a clear plan
Instead of wondering what to practice...you'll know exactly what skill you're working on.
Every session builds on the previous week.
Every drill has a purpose.
Every week includes challenges to reinforce what you learned.
Every skill is tracked.

What you'll learn
Over eight weeks you'll build the skills that separate you from everyone else:
High percentage pickleball
Kitchen control
Third shot drops
Transition resets
Volleys & counters
Serve & return strategy
Court positioning
Decision-making
Match strategy

What students are saying
Derek is the coach for you if you want a transformative experience. Very personable, will spend the time to get to know you first, and then individualize your lesson so that you can't help but level up your game!
Derek’s a great guy. We talked before the lesson so he could understand what I wanted to work on going into it. I’m happy with the relationship! I saw an immediate improvement after just one lesson.
Derek is a great coach. He observes, analyzes and give suggestions to my weaknesses. I’ve already improved in my first lesson!
Derek was very instructive and patient. His tennis technique really supports pickleball and my strokes are now definitely improved.
Professional, great immediate feedback for technical improvement and strategy. Lots of experience teaching tennis and now pickleball.
Derek is an outstanding instructor. He is very patient and friendly. He is also quite skilled and knows how to help improve mechanics and form.
Best instructor to date. He focused on fundamentals first. I wish I had learned all this from the start instead of having to change years later…
Frequently asked questions
Whether you're recreational or competitive, these sessions are for you if you want to get better and understand how to play the game better at your level. If you want to learn how to anticipate your opponent's shots and construct more points to win, this will be perfect.
Sessions are tailored to your level and designed to make improvement approachable.
In the Progression Program, because each session builds on the previous week, attendance is strongly encouraged. If you miss a session, you'll still have access to the instructional videos through the VIP community.
Missed sessions are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled, except due to weather. However, each player is given 2 class credits, which may be redeemed for Masterclasses only, which are scheduled separately.
During the 8 weeks, you'll be given free access to Skool, my online coaching platform and community, which contains access to technique videos, strategy tips, a drill library, and more.
You'll also be given a personal skill tracker, which allows you learn WHAT skills to practice at your level, and a drill library, which shows you HOW to practice those skills. This framework allows you to work up to specific milestones as opposed to playing randomly with no focus.
At the end of each week, you'll also receive lesson recaps drills to work on, and challenges.
Sessions will take place at Lawson Middle School in Cupertino. There is free street parking and water stations on site, but no public restrooms. The nearest restroom is the Target on Stevens Creek.
Both. Sessions are built around technique drilling and live points, situational play, and match scenarios. You’ll learn and practice skills, then apply them under pressure in realistic game scenarios against the coach and your fellow peers.
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a full refund. If the court is unavailable, or canceled due to weather or the holidays, the session will be rescheduled.
